As part of their profession – including, at times, through multidisciplinary teamwork – they plan rehabilitation programmes aimed at identifying and meeting patients’ healthcare needs, taking into account their medical diagnoses and prescriptions; they autonomously perform treatments for the functional rehabilitation of motor, psychomotor and cognitive disabilities, using physical, manual, massage and occupational therapies; they suggest the use of prostheses and aids, train patients to use them and check their effectiveness; they check whether the rehabilitation technique meets the functional recovery objectives; they carry out studies, teaching and professional consultancy in health services and situations where their professional skills are required.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE DISSERTATION

At the end of the course, students sit the final examination, which consists of a practical exam and a dissertation defence. The practical examination consists of the evaluation-treatment-revaluation-discharge of a patient with a real medical diagnosis and physiotherapy prescription, which lasts approximately one hour, with the remaining 30 minutes consisting of an interview with a committee comprising a doctor and a physiotherapist.

The dissertation requires students to defend an experimental research paper in a discussion lasting 15 to 20 minutes in front of a committee comprising a doctor and two physiotherapists. The committee may ask the candidate questions at the end of the discussion.
